WKU Dean's List (Fall 2015)
2017 (Sophomore): After beginning the season as a lefty specialist, Acosta earned a starter's role by the beginning of March ... His 21 total appearances were second on WKU, while his 9 starts ranked third on the club ... Had 3 games of 7-plus innings with 2 or fewer runs allowed to lead the Hilltoppers... Earned a victory March 26 at Middle Tennessee, going a career-high 7.2 innings and allowing 1 earned run with 3 strikeouts and zero walks in a 4-2 win ... Struck out a career-high 5 batters vs. Belmont on March 7 and vs. Charlotte on April 15, pitching 7 innings in each contest for a pair of no-decisions ... Earned a 3-inning save Feb. 25 vs. Jacksonville state, allowing only 3 baserunners and striking out 2 in the final 3 frames of the 14-4 win ... Overall, faced 16 inherited runners and stranded 12 of them out of the bullpen.
2016 (Freshman): Acosta had a productive debut campaign out of the Hilltopper bullpen in 2016, with the most appearances (19), innings pitched (24) and strikeouts (19) of any WKU freshman ... Finished the year with a 4.88 ERA, with 5 games in which he pitched at least an inning and did not give up an earned run, including 4 of his last 5 appearances ... Held a high-powered Southern Miss squad off the board in 3.1 innings of work in Hattiesburg and struck out 4 ... His longest outing of the year came at home against a Marshall squad that was one of the best in C-USA at the plate, giving up only 1 earned run in 3.2 innings out of the bullpen.
At Batavia HS: Only lost four games in which he started his entire high school career ... Earned All-Conference First Team and All-State Academic honors, as well as a Gold Glove Award ... Tallied multiple 12-plus strikeout performances and held the lowest ERA on the team as a starter ... Was voted the team captain and MVP.
