KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – WKU track and field wrapped its second week of outdoor competition at the 2026 Tennessee Invite at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on Saturday. The Hilltoppers earned four podium finishes at the meet, headlined by a first-place finish by Jayla Gilbert in the women's shot put and third-place finishes by Kameron Horton in the men's 100-meter dash and Trevor Hudnall in the men's 800-meter run.
TENNESSEE INVITE
Gilbert recorded a distance of 14.96m to secure a victory in the women's shot put, while Horton clocked a 10.38 finish in the men's 100-meter dash to secure third place and mark a second consecutive meet placing in an event. Horton previously finished second in the men's 400-meter dash at the Jim Vargo Invitational on March 28.
Hudnall finished with a new personal-best time of 1:49.65 in the men's 800-meter run to secure a third-place finish for WKU. Carolina Bannach added a second-place finish in the women's pole vault open with a mark of 3.82m to round out the Hilltoppers' top-three finishers for the weekend.
On the men's side, Brunel Desinor finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 46.87, while the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Horton, Carter Vinson, Myles Gentry and Sterling Weldon also posted a fourth-place finish with a time of 40.48. Weldon added a fifth-place finish in the men's long jump, recording a distance of 7.38m.
Hunter Coslow recorded a fourth-place finish in the men's shot put with a new PR of 16.60m. Devon Rogers also finished fourth in the men's javelin with a mark of 58.33m.
On the women's side, Kinley Kunkel finished fourth in the 1500-meter run with time of 4:32.54. Freshman Brooke Greenwell followed with a fifth-place finish and time of 4:35.51. Greenwell and freshman Caterina Rossomanno each set new PRs in the women's 800-meter run, clocking times of 2:16.76 and 2:15.15 respectively, and freshman Ella Cleveland recorded a fifth-place finish in the women's pole vault open with a mark of 3.52m.Â
