BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Track and Field head coach Lee Wood has announced the hiring of two assistant coaches for the 2025-26 track and field season on Wednesday.
Rashaud Scott joins WKU as an Assistant Track and Field Coach, working with the throwing events. A Bronx, New York native, Scott began his collegiate career at Mesa Community College before transferring to the University of Kentucky. During his time with the Wildcats, he earned three All-American honors, captured an SEC title, an NCAA Championship, and went on to compete as a U.S. Olympic Trials finalist in the discus throw.Â
Scott's transition from athlete to coach has been marked by a strong commitment to athlete development. He previously served as a volunteer assistant coach at both the University of Kentucky and the University of Washington, where he worked with throwers in the shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin. In his coaching career, he has guided a state champion and helped multiple athletes advance to state and regional championship competition. Scott looks forward to continuing the strong tradition of WKU Track and Field by developing a throws group that consistently contributes at the conference and national level.Â
Scott has a bachelor's degree in sociology.
On Scott's hiring, head coach Lee Wood said "Really thrilled to hire on coach Rashaud Scott to the coaching staff. Coach Scott has a tremendous athletic resume as a former thrower for Kentucky. He comes in with a wealth of knowledge in the throws as he is a three time All-American."
Brittany Henderson enters her first season as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky after serving as the program's volunteer hurdles coach in 2024–25.
A Denver, Colorado native, Henderson competed collegiately at the University of Colorado before finishing her career at Colorado State University. A heptathlete and long jumper, she also qualified for the U.S. Championships in 2013 and 2017.
Henderson brings seven years of coaching experience at the high school, club, and collegiate levels. She has coached multiple state champions, conference winners, and state qualifiers, while also training elite athletes such as U.S. heptathlete Anna Hall, Maya Evans, and Emily Sloan.
At WKU, Henderson works primarily with the 400m, hurdles, and jumps.
On Henderson's hiring, Wood said "Very excited to officially add Coach Brittany Henderson to the staff! She did an amazing job as a volunteer coach last year and I am glad I could hire her on staff officially. She has and will be a huge asset to the program!"
