ABOUT THE TOPSÂ
- Friday marks the second meet of the season for WKU.
- Last time out, the Tops competed in the Belmont Opener on Friday, Aug. 29.
- Both teams finished in the top-five. The men took a third place finish with 89 points. The women finished up in fourth with 74 points.
- Caterina Rossomanno led the way for WKU, taking eighth place in the women's 5k, finishing in 18:40.
- Brooke Greenwell, Maggie May, and Kathryn Harris all finished in the top-20, attributing the fourth best finish in the meet.
- Ryan Hendrix led the way for the men, finishing up in 13th, with a mark of 15:42.
- Carter Hayes and Sam Herbig also cracked the top-20.
- In total, seven Hilltoppers finished in the top-20 when the meet had come to a close.

On the meet Friday head coach Lee Wood said "Excited as we move into race week! We will have most of our team racing. It will be a great opportunity to see some fitness and have some team strategy going into this meet."
MEET HISTORY
- Friday's meet will be held at the John Hunt Cross Country Course in Huntsville, Ala. The course is also the site of the 2025 Conference USA Championships.
- Last season in their first appearance in the Southern Showcase, WKU saw three new personal bests.
- The list was highlighted by two returners for the men's team in Trevor Hudnall and Michael House.
- Both teams finished up in 24th place respectively in the 2024 edition of the meet.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
- The men will be lining up against 51 other teams early Friday morning. The women will compete against 53.
- Highlighting the list in the 8k race are powers Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, and Mississippi State.
- Familiar opponents in the men's race include Belmont, FAU, Lipscomb, Marshall, and Tennessee Tech.
- In the 5k Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State.
- Other Conference USA Schools will also be competing Friday morning in Delaware, Jax State, Kennesaw State, and MTSU.Â
