Thursday's 1-0 win marks the second straight clean sheet for the Hilltoppers. Abby Wiedermann scored the winning goal for WKU in the third minute of the match. Georgia Liapis led the team with four shots and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
WKU fired early and often in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead in the third minute of the match on a corner kick. Liapis fed Wiedermann who knocked one in to put the Tops ahead. WKU got off nine more shots in the first half, finishing with 10 total in the frame. Liapis led the team with three shots, one on goal, and an assist. Wiedermann added two shots with one goal.
WKU ramped up the defensive effort in the second, holding the Tigers to just three shots in the game. During the final 45 minutes Mia Merritt led the team with two shots. Liapis added one more to finish with four shots on the night. Maddie Davis also came in at the break and charted two saves in her first appearance of the season.

- Abby Wiedermann headlined action at the WKU Soccer Complex on Thursday, scoring the winning goal in the third minute of the match. Wiedermann added two shots, playing the full 90 minutes.
- Georgia Liapis added four shots including one on goal. Liapis was also credited with the assist on Wiedermann's goal in the third minute.
- Mia Merritt finished with three shots and one on goal in 69 minutes of action.
- Danielle Lewin finished with two shots in 21 minutes.

On the win, head coach Jason Neidell said "It was really important for us in a non conference game to get off on the right foot in front of our home fans."
On Abby Wiedermann's goal Neidell said "That was a set piece design, the ball fell to her, and she finished it. She's great on the defensive end and she can be a force on restarts for us and we saw that tonight."
