The Hilltoppers end the season with their fifth-straight 30-win season, going 30-21-1 overall and posting a 14-10-1 record in CUSA play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
WKU 4, LA Tech 6
Neither LA Tech (32-24 overall) nor WKU scored through the first two innings, with Rylan Smith earning her 26th and final start of the season.
In the top of the third, the Bulldogs plated their first run of the game.
As the home half of the inning rolled around, both Kendle White and Morgan Sharpe hit back-to-back singles to put two Hilltoppers on the bases.
Annie White collected her third hit of the weekend with a single up the middle to score Kendle White and tie the game at 1-1.
Still in the home half of the third, Kennedy Stinson won her 10-pitch at-bat and hit a ball to deep center field to score WKU's second run and earn her 35th RBI of the season.
The Bulldogs hit a single through the left side in the top of the fourth to score two and take the lead, 3-2.
For the next 1.5 innings, neither side pushed a run across. In the top of the fifth, WKU's defense got an opportunity to show off with a 5-3-2 double play to prevent a Bulldog run.
As the sixth frame of the day rolled around, LA Tech extended its lead to 4-2 with a single to left field.
Not wanting to go down without a fight, the Hilltoppers sent a total of seven batters to the plate. Out of those seven batters, WKU was able to tie the game, 4-4.
Stinson and Maci Masters opened the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back walks while Charlotte Herron collected a sacrifice bunt to move the pair to second and third.
In her last game as a Hilltopper, Randi Drinnon drove in the first run of the inning with a single through the left side.
The fourth run of the sixth came off a wild pitch as Anniston Bray—pinch running for Masters—scooted across the plate.
With the game tied 4-4, the Bulldogs threatened with a runner on third, but a diving play by Herron prevented the run.
The Hilltoppers found themselves in a similar situation, but LA Tech's defense stopped the chance of a walk-off win.
Embarking on their 129th extra-inning game in program history, WKU was unable to score as the Bulldogs scored two to take the win.
