ABOUT THE TOPS
• The #25 Hilltoppers enter the game with a 27-5 (6-3 CUSA) record after a series win over #17 Dallas Baptist last weekend in Dallas.Â
• Following the series win over the Patriots, two national media outlets ranked WKU #25 in their weekly polls. The last time the Hilltoppers were ranked was April 26, 2010, in the NCBWA's week 10 top 30 poll. They came in at #27.
• 21 of WKU's 27 wins have come at Nick Denes Field. This is the first time the Hilltoppers have started 21-0 at home in program history.
• The WKU pitching staff has been dominant thus far as their 2.59 ERA is the best in the nation among Division I teams. The Hilltoppers are the only team in the nation with a sub-3.00 ERA.Â
• Dawson Hall was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after tossing 6.0 shutout frames against a high-powered #17 Dallas Baptist offense in the series-clinching win over the Patriots on Saturday. The Bowling Green, Ky. native improved his record to a perfect 5-0 and lowered his season ERA to 0.82.
• On the offensive end, the Tops' .326 batting average and 79 doubles lead CUSA. Nationally, WKU ranks eighth in batting average and sixth in doubles.
• Hilltopper outfielder Ryan Wideman's .451 batting average, 60 hits, 13 doubles, five triples, 101 total bases and 25 stolen bases lead CUSA. The Marietta, Ga. native is top five in CUSA in batting average (.451), OPS (1.259), runs (41), hits (60), doubles (13), triples (5), RBI (39), total bases (101), slugging percentage (.759), on-base percentage (.500) and stolen bases (25). Nationally, he ranks seventh in batting average, third in hits, fifth in triples, 10th in total bases and sixth in stolen bases.
• Three of the four top doubles hitters in CUSA are Hilltoppers. Wideman and Carlos Vasquez are tied for the league lead with 13 while Ethan Lizama is in fourth with 12.Â
SERIES INFORMATION
• This will be the 15th all-time meeting between WKU and Southern Indiana.
• The Tops lead the all-time series 11-3 after two wins over the Screaming Eagles last year.
• Prior to 2024, the sides had not squared off since 1988.
SCOUTING THE SCREAMING EAGLES
• USI is coming off a three-game sweep over Morehead State.
• The Screaming Eagles own a .310 batting average while scoring 6.7 runs per game.Â
• On the mound, USI has a 6.29 ERA with 226 strikeouts in 264.2 innings.
