ABOUT THE TOPS
• The Hilltoppers enter the series with a 34-10 (11-7 CUSA) record after a series loss at FIU last weekend in Miami, Fla.
• The WKU pitching staff has been dominant thus far as their 3.02 ERA is the best in the nation among Division I teams.
• Four Hilltopper arms received midseason recognition from media outlets. Weekend rotation starters Drew Whalen and Jack Bennett were named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List by the College Baseball Hall of Fame while Cal Higgins and Lucas Hartman were selected to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List.
• On the offensive end, the Tops' 100 stolen bases lead the conference while their .307 batting average and 95 doubles sit at second in CUSA. Nationally, WKU ranks 21st in stolen bases, 36th in batting average and 26th in doubles.
• Hilltopper outfielder Ryan Wideman's .418 batting average, 76 hits, 18 doubles, five triples, 122 total bases and 35 stolen bases lead CUSA. The Marietta, Ga. native is top five in CUSA in batting average (.418), runs (52), hits (76), doubles (18), triples (5), RBI (47), total bases (122) and stolen bases (35). Nationally, he ranks 14th in batting average, fourth in hits, 16th in doubles and fourth in stolen bases.
• Three of the top ten doubles hitters in CUSA are Hilltoppers. Wideman leads the league with 18, Carlos Vasquez ranks third with 16 while Kyle Hayes sits in the nine spot with 13.
SERIES INFORMATION
• This will be the 71st meeting between WKU and Kentucky.
• The Wildcats lead the all-time series 41-29 dating back to the first meeting in 1967.
• UK has won four of the last five against the Hilltoppers with WKU's last win coming in the 2022 season in Lexington, Ky.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
