ABOUT THE TOPS
• WKU enters the series with a 20-1 record after a midweek win over Eastern Kentucky. The 2025 Hilltoppers own the best start in program and CUSA history after winning 20 of their first 21 games.Â
• WKU is currently on a 15-game winning streak. That marks the second-best win streak in program history. The longest win streak in program history belongs to the 1980 WKU Baseball team that won 19 games in a row.Â
• The Hilltopper pitching staff has been dominant thus far as their 2.59 ERA is the second-best in the nation only trailing 2024 National Champion Tennessee. The Hilltoppers are one of five teams in the nation with a sub-3.00 ERA.Â
• Weekend rotation pitcher, Jack Bennett, has been special for WKU through four starts. He's 4-0 with 22 strikeouts in 22.0 innings and is one of two Division I players with a 0.00 ERA.Â
• On the offensive end, the Tops' .339 batting average and 59 doubles lead CUSA. Nationally, WKU ranks sixth in batting average and fifth in doubles.
• Hilltopper outfielder Ryan Wideman's .489 batting average, 1.396 OPS, 44 hits, 11 doubles, four triples, 29 RBI, 78 total bases, .812 slugging percentage and 17 stolen bases lead CUSA. The junior was awarded CUSA Hitter of the Week after an 11-for-21 (.524) week with 11 RBI, a grand slam, five doubles, two triples, six runs and two stolen bases. He hit for the program's first recorded cycle on Tuesday against SIU.Â
SERIES INFORMATION
• This weekend will be the first ever meeting between WKU and Kennesaw State. The Owls joined CUSA in 2024 and this weekend will mark the baseball team's first series as a CUSA member.
• Due to ongoing renovation of the Stillwell Baseball Stadium, this weekend's series will be played at S. Walter Kelly Sr. Memorial Field in Marietta, Ga., former home of Southern Polytech.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
• Kennesaw State is coming off a midweek loss to Georgia Southern and a series split with The Citadel.Â
• As a team, the Owls own a .267 batting average while scoring 5.4 runs per game.Â
• On the mound, KSU has a 6.72 ERA with 174 strikeouts in 179.1 innings.
