In a deep field that includes No. 15 Florida State, who leads at 16-under, the Tops finished day one ahead of No. 55 Furman, No. 97 UNC Wilmington and No. 108 North Texas, and just three shots behind No. 51 Arkansas.
Gage Doyle leads the Hilltoppers following an even-par 140 on Monday, thanks in part to his 2-under 68 in the second round.
NOTABLES
- Gage Doyle's strong play was aided by his effort on the Par 5s Monday, as his combined 3-under on those holes was second-best in the field.
- Doyle and Stephen Warren each had eight birdies on Monday to lead WKU.
- Rafe Blankenship had the Tops' lone eagle on the day, a 3 on the Par-5 seventh hole in the second round. In total, there were only five eagles.
- WKU was fifth in the field with 28 birdies on Monday.
