SERIES INFO
- Belmont
- The Tops are 31-2 all-time against the Bruins with the last win coming in 2021, 7-2. This will be the first meeting at a neutral site.
- Eastern Kentucky
- WKU is 15-13 all-time against the Colonels with the last win coming in 2023 in a 13-inning battle with the Tops triumphant, 3-2. This will be the first meeting at a neutral site.
- Georgia Tech
- The Hilltoppers are 1-3 all-time against the Yellow Jackets with an 0-2 record at Shirley Clements Mewbern Field. The two squads last played in 2015 in Tallahassee, Fla. with WKU winning 4-1.
ABOUT THE TOPS
- The Hilltoppers finished with a 33-20-1 record in the 2024 season which included a run to the Conference USA tournament championship.
- WKU returns eight from the 2024 squad while adding six freshman and two transfers.
- Most notable of the incoming freshmen is Charlotte Herron, an infielder from Huntsville, Ala. Herron was named to the Softball America Top Freshman Watch List and comes to the Hill with a .504 batting average in her senior high school season alongside 14 home runs, only four strikeouts, a slugging percentage of .985, and a First Team All-State nod.
- Sophomore infielder Morgan Sharpe returns to the Tops and was named Preseason All-CUSA back in January. She posted a .341 batting average in 2024.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
- Belmont Bruins
- Belmont finished 30-20 overall last season with a 16-11 finish in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bruins were picked to place second in the conference with two first place votes.
- On the field, offensively the Bruins were led by Nichole Hughes who finished with 6 home runs last season. On the mound, they were led by pitcher Maya Johnson who had a record of 16-5.
- Eastern Kentucky Colonels
- Eastern Kentucky was picked to finish first in the ASUN after a 42-10 overall finish and a 21-3 spot in conference play.
- Offensively, the Colonels lost Riley Jeanay who ended 2024 with a .402 batting average. However, Eastern Kentucky returns pitcher Maddi Rutan who led the way with a 25-5 pitching record and led the team hitting eight home runs in 2024 .
- Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
- Georgia Tech closed its 2024 season with a record of 32-23. The Yellow Jackets are picked to finish eighth in the ACC in 2025 after 13-13 in the ACC for the 2024 season.
- Offensively, they lost Mallorie Black who finished with 19 home runs last season, but return Paige Vukadinovich and her .400 slugging percentage. The Yellow Jackets also return their senior pitcher Sophia Voyles who had a 3.88 ERA.
