ABOUT THE TOPSÂ Â
- At their last meet, the Samford Bulldog Invite on Feb. 14, 20 new personal records were set when the final tallies were gathered for the days' events.Â
- Kinley Kunkel set a personal best in the 5000-meter race, finishing in 17:10. Her time is also a new record for the Bulldog Invite meet.Â
- In the men's 800, all four Hilltoppers that competed set new PR's. They were led by Wade Balcom who took first place and finished in 1:53.Â
- In the men's 200-meter dash, Kameron Horton took home first with a mark of 21.19 which stood at No. 96 in all of NCAA DI.Â
- In the women's pole vault Sophia Roskoski matched her career best mark, taking second place in the event. Her mark of 3.97 meters stands as the third best in WKU history.Â
- In the men's event, Caleb Joyce became the 19th and final Hilltopper to set a PR in their respective event with a mark of 4.67 in the vault.Â
- WKU finished the day off with six first place finishers including five for the men and one for the women.Â
EVENT BREAKDOWNÂ
- Action Friday will get underway at 9 a.m. with the pentathlon. (All times CST).Â
- For field events, action will get underway at noon with the women's pole vault followed by women's weight throw at 2 p.m.Â
- The men's weight throw will mark the final field event of the day, slated to get underway at 5 p.m.Â
- Track events will get underway at 3 p.m. with the men's mile (trials).
- The final event Friday will be the women's DMR slated for 6:40 p.m.
- Saturday, the heptathlon will kick off action at 9:30 a.m.
- The women's shot put will start off field events at 11 a.m. with the field action set to commence with the men's high jump at 2 p.m.
- On the track, the men's mile (final) is slated for 1 p.m. with the final events slated for 3:50 p.m. with the men's and women's 4x400 relays.
MEET HISTORYÂ
- The 2025 meet marks the second consecutive season the meet will be held at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex. Prior to 2024, the meet was held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. Â
- Last season, the host Flames swept the men's and women's team titles, winning them both in their first season as a member of the conference.Â
- As a team, the Hilltoppers won the 2015 and 2016 Men's CUSA Championship.Â
- Last season, WKU saw multiple medal earners and a few individual champions. Nick Fornoff claimed a bronze medal finish in the men's high jump. Former Hilltoppers Emilia Lesniak and Grace Turner took first and second respectively in the women's high jump.Â
- In the women's pentathlon, former Hilltopper Netanya Linares claimed a 3rd place finish in the event, setting a new school record for the event.Â
SCOUTING THE FIELDÂ
- The Hilltoppers will be one of 10 teams competing at the championship meet over the weekend. The field is the same as last year with the addition of Kennesaw State who joined the league last July.Â
- In track events, four different schools are represented for the top marks. UTEP holds the most of any team, with three different athletes leading the way on the women's side of the meet.Â
- Sam Crenshaw holds the second best mark in the league in a pole vault event that should be tightly contested between him and athletes from Kennesaw State and Sam Houston.Â
- Sterling Weldon is tied for the second best mark in the league for the men's long jump event, standing at 7.34 meters.Â
- Kaison Barton holds the seventh best mark in the conference in the men's shot put. He set that mark at the Bulldog Invite (15.96 meters).Â
- Kinley Kunkel holds a top-five time in the league in the women's 5000 meter race.Â
