Sam Crenshaw headlined action Saturday as he set a new program record in the men's pole vault. In total, three Hilltoppers finished with a personal record when action had wrapped up.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Field events got underway first with the women's weight throw. Kennedy Coradini and Jayla Gilbert both represented WKU in the event. Gilbert claimed 13th and Coradini followed in 15th.
The men's pole vault proved to be a bright spot for the Hilltoppers yet again as Crenshaw broke his own school record and claimed a fourth place finish in the event. Jackson Tweed also managed a PR in the event.
A trio of Hilltoppers competed in the men's weight throw. Connor Owens led the pack, claiming an eighth place finish in the event. Luke McQueen and LeAndre Bolen competed in the weight throw for the first time in their Hilltopper careers.
In the men's 600, a pair of Hilltoppers finished in the top-five, led by Wade Balcom who set a PR in the event, claiming third. Ben Dunkle followed behind in fourth place.
In the women's pole vault, Sophia Roskoski managed a fifth place finish, tying for the fifth-best mark in program history. Natalie Papes followed in sixth place.
The men's 4x400 meter relay marked the final event of the day for WKU. The group of Balcom, Dunkle, Stephen Taylor, and Bryce Revo managed a 13th place finish to culminate the first indoor meet of the season.
NOTABLES
- In total, three Hilltoppers set a personal best on Saturday.
- Sam Crenshaw highlighted action Saturday, breaking his own pole vault school record for a new program mark of 5.11 meters.
- Crenshaw currently holds the top-four all-time best pole vault marks in WKU Indoor Track and Field history.
- Jackson Tweed also set a personal best mark in the pole vault with a 4.41 meter vault.
- Wade Balcom set a personal best mark in the 600 meter run, checking in at 1:19, good for third place.
- Sophia Roskoski managed a fifth place finish in the women's pole vault and set the fifth best mark in program history (3.95 meters).
