ABOUT THE TOPSÂ
- Friday marks the final regular season meet of 2025 for the Hilltoppers.
- Last time, WKU competed in the XC Town Twilight in Terre Haute, Ind. The Hilltoppers won both the men's and women's team titles.
- Kinley Kunkel claimed the individual title, leading the women to victory in the 6k.
- In the men's 8000, all eight Hilltoppers finished within the top-10.
- In the women's 6000, five finished in the top eight.
- Hollis Johnson led the way with a third place finish in 25:54, guiding the men to a first place team finish.
- Freshman Sam Herbig set a PR in the 8k race with a mark of 26:18.
- Sofia Witt set a personal best in the 6k, finishing in 24:11, good for 12th place.
- Tatum Maschhoff set a PR in the 6k as well, crossing in 25:05, taking 25th
- Both teams' first place finishes marked the best for a team at an event since the Evansville Invitational in 2013 when the women won and the men took second.Â

On the meet Friday head coach Lee Wood said "We are heading to Evansville competing in our last regular season meet. I feel like both teams are clicking on all cylinders minus a few athletes out with injuries. Excited to go compete against some solid competition!"
ABOUT THE MEET
- Friday's meet will be held at the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course in Evansville, Ind.
- This will mark the third consecutive season WKU has wrapped up the regular season slate at the Angel Mounds Invitational.
- Last season, the women's team shined bright for WKU as Kinley Kunkel and Mary Dye both finished in the top-three, leading to a second place finish for the women's team at the 2024 meet.
- The course is known for being a fast, relatively fast course to compete on, located along the Ohio River.
- The course has hosted numerous championship meets including the NCAA DII Cross Country Midwest Regional, NCAA DII Cross Country National Championship, NCAA DI Cross Country Great Lakes Regional, Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championship, and Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship
- The course is slated to host the 2025 MVC Championships and the NCAA DI Great Lakes Regional meet.
A LOOK AT THE FIELD
- WKU will compete against several teams Friday morning including multiple from the commonwealth in the likes of Bellarmine, Brescia, EKU, Morehead State, Murray State, NKU, and Transylvania.
- Since the meet is in Indiana, several teams from the Hoosier State will be lining up against the Tops on Friday including Evansville, IU Indianapolis, Southern Indiana, and Vincennes.
- Other teams include Austin Peay, Cincinnati, Lipscomb, SIU, Tennessee Tech, and UT Martin.
