BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The WKU Women's Golf Team has had a successful summer across all parts of the country. Their summer success will continue this week as rising senior Catie Craig travels to Tulsa, Oklahoma to play in the 124th U.S. Amateur Tournament.
This is Craig's second time competing in the tournament. Craig along with WKU Grad Sarah Arnold qualified last year, making them the first-ever WKU female golfers to qualify. Craig shined in the Amateur last year, making it to the Round of 16. Catie was one of just four competitors who played at non-Power 5 schools.
The Georgia native had a very busy summer, and this contributed to her being exempt from having to play qualifying rounds for the tournament. Craig claimed the 122nd Women's North and South Amateur Championship in late June, which made her an automatic qualifier.
The 124th U.S. Women's Amateur is set to be played at the 6,437-yard, Par-71 Southern Hills Country Club from August 5-11.
The tournament will be structured as traditional 18-hole stroke play through the first two days. August 7th-11th will consist of match play for the duration of the tournament. Craig will be one of the 156 players in the field and is set to tee off bright and early tomorrow morning at 7:25 A.M.
