BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Three athletes from the WKU Track and Field team are set to compete in the NCAA east prelims Wednesday through Saturday, May 22-25. Ajla Basic, Kameron Horton, and Katie Isenbarger will represent the Red and White at the meet hosted by the University of Kentucky.
Basic will be competing in the hammer throw, Horton will run in the 100-meter dash, and Isenbarger will compete in the high jump.
On the upcoming meet, head coach Brent Chumbley said "We have some great chances to advance this weekend. We just have to stay focused and execute like we have throughout the year."

Horton is set to compete Wednesday night in the 100-meter dash. The occasion marks the first for Horton, who set a new personal best of 10.25 at the Conference USA Championships on May 12. His mark stands as the 46th best in the East Region.
Thursday, Basic will compete in the hammer throw scheduled for 9 a.m. CT. This marks the third consecutive year that Basic has qualified for regionals. The native of Sarajevo, Bosnia set a new career best at the Joe Walker Invitational in April. The throw of 62.82 meters ranks as the 13th best in the East Region.
Isenbarger will round out competition for WKU on Saturday with the high jump event set for 1 p.m. CT. This is the fourth time in four tries she has qualified for the preliminary round. The Graduate Senior set a new program record, jumping 1.88 meters at the Music City Challenge. This mark is the second best in the East Region and the eighth best in all of NCAA DI.
The qualifiers out of the East and West regions will compete at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon.
