RUSTON, La. – WKU Baseball dropped the series finale to Louisiana Tech 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at Pat Patterson Park. The Hilltoppers drop to 32-19 (13-8 CUSA) while the Bulldogs improve to 38-15 (15-6 CUSA).
Like they've done in every game this series, the Tops got on the board in the first inning. Junior Blake Cavill grounded out to score sophomore Dylan O'Connell for a 1-0 lead. The WKU pitching staff held the Louisiana Tech offense scoreless for the first six innings, but a solo home run in the seventh tied it before a six-run eighth inning put them in front.
Sophomore Dawson Hall got the start on the mound and was perfect through 2.0 innings while striking out one. Junior Cal Higgins continued off Hall's momentum and held the Bulldogs scoreless for the next 4.0 frames. Higgins allowed just one hit and no runs before surrendering a solo home run to tie the game to start the seventh.
The Hilltopper offense was held to just two hits in the contest with juniors Joey Baran and Eli Burwash hitting a single apiece.
