BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will host Middle Tennessee for Senior Day on Wednesday at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park. Senior Day ceremonies will begin at 12:45 p.m. CT, with the match slated to start at 2 p.m. CT.
Four Lady Toppers will be recognized during the Senior Day festivities – Paola Cortez, Sayda Hernandez, Anna-Marie Kopecka, and Samantha Martinez.
"Four players who have really helped turn the program around," WKU Head Coach Greg Davis said. " … We look forward to seeing everybody come out and support them. The ceremony is 12:45-1:00, and the match will start at 2:00 out there against Middle Tennessee, our archrival. You know how that goes. It doesn't matter what sport it is, when WKU and MTSU play, you can throw out the records, it means nothing, and everybody is going to show up and do their best. We're looking for a big crowd to come out there.
"We've had a good season – a lot of good wins, a lot of great accomplishments for the program. We're looking to continue that at the end of the season."
The match is the second for WKU (13-9) this season against a Conference USA opponent. The Lady Toppers fell to No. 69 Liberty on Saturday at the WKU Tennis Complex. WKU is 10-3 this season at home. The 10 home wins rank second in program history.
WKU is 13-29 all-time against Middle Tennessee. The last three meetings have finished 4-3, with the Blue Raiders claiming victories in both meetings last season – one in the regular season in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and the other in Denton, Texas, during the Conference USA Tournament. WKU's last win in the series came in 2022 at home. Middle Tennessee enters with a 10-11 overall record and 2-2 mark in CUSA play.
The Lady Toppers will follow Wednesday's contest with a match against former CUSA member Florida Atlantic on Monday, April 15, in Boca Raton, Florida, before the CUSA Championship begins Thursday, April 18, in Miami.
