CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – It was a tight three rounds for the Red and White during the Chattanooga Classic. WKU Women's Golf Team finished as the runner-up in the tourney after posting a 9-over 861 total score.
Finishing in the top-three is Lady Topper junior Catie Craig. This is Craig's ninth straight top-10 finish and her seventh finish in the top-three as well. The junior posted another 1-under 70 round for the Lady Tops as she finished third on the leaderboard. Craig's round included five birdies and going even-par four times.
With her fifth top-10 finish of the season, graduate student Sarah Arnold tied for eighth for the Lady Tops. Arnold had a strong closing to her front nine, finishing with a birdie on her ninth hole. She would go on to add three more to her total on the back nine to solidify her 2-over 73 score. The Illinois native turned in a 1-over 214 total score.
Following her 72 score second round, Sydney Hackett cemented her position in the top-15. The sophomore tied for 15th after turning in a 2-over 73. Hackett had a hot start for the Red and White, going under on her first three holes of the day. She put in two birdies on her way to a 5-over 218 total score.
Also finishing in the top-20 for the Lady Tops is Addie Westbrook. The senior rebounded in a great way following the Spring Break Shootout to tie for 17th in this tourney. Westbrook was able to move up nine spots between the second and final rounds of the tournament. Westbrook went even on her first 11 holes before putting in a birdie on hole 14. She finished her final round with a 1-over 72.
Closing things out for WKU was Averi Cline who moved up four spots to finish 80th. Cline was able to make steady improvements between rounds in order to finish with a 22-over 235 total score.
As a team, the Lady Tops finished with 38 birdies and were third in the field in total pars with 172. WKU also finished first in par 5s with a 4.93 average.
Head Coach Adam Gary's squad will be gearing up to travel to Magnolia, Texas next week to compete in the CUSA Championship. The spring season was full of success for WKU and they have plenty of momentum to carry into the conference tourney. The Lady Toppers will be competing in the tournament from April 15-17.
