MAGNOLIA, Tx. – Round one of the CUSA Tournament wrapped up Monday afternoon. The Lady Tops are currently in fourth place after being led by Sarah Arnold and Catie Craig.
Catie Craig is currently in the top-five for the Red and White as she is tied for fifth on the board. Craig started off hot early, putting in two birdies on her first four holes. Craig would go on the put in two more birdies on her way to an even-par 72 first round.
In the top-15 for WKU, Sarah Arnold had a solid outing today. Arnold put in two birdies during this round and scored even on five straight holes. The Illinois native went over par on her last seven holes. She turned in a 2-over 74 first round which ties her for 13th. The graduate student will be looking to rebound in a big way tomorrow.
Senior Addie Wesbrook found a steady role today for the Lady Tops as she is tied for 20th going into round two. Westbrook put in one birdie on her way to a 3-over 75 first round. She showed steady improvement in her back nine, shaving a stroke off on her final hole, giving her plenty of momentum to build off of.
Tying for 23rd is Sydney Hackett. The WKU sophomore was very consistent for the Red and White, ending with a 4-over 76 first round score. Hackett put in two birdies, including one on her very first hole.
Rounding things out for WKU and finishing tied for 25th is Averi Cline. Cline met par 13 times and is in the top half of the field in Par 4s with a 4.30 average. Cline will be looking to climb further into the top-25 during tomorrow's second round.
The Lady Toppers as a team put in 11 birdies and met par 58 times.
The Red and White will continue on their journey to capture their first CUSA Championship tomorrow morning for round two. Tee time is set for 7:30 A.M.
