CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Classic continued Tuesday afternoon. It was a tight battle near the top of the leaderboard for the Lady Toppers, who are currently in third heading into the final round.
This second round was full of improvement for the Red and White as four of the five Lady Toppers have improved on their position on the leaderboard.
Catie Craig continued her great play throughout this tourney, replicating her first round score with a 1-under 70 second round. Her round included three birdies, including back-to-back birdies on her 11th and 12th holes. The Lady Topper junior was also even on nine of her 18 holes. As it stands, Craig is still near the top of the leaderboard, tying for fourth going into the final round.
Sarah Arnold improved on her first round, shaving off three strokes and getting under par, turning in a 2-under 69 second round. Arnold is currently near the top of the leaderboard in par 3s with a 2.90 rating. The graduate student also holds six total birdies with four of them coming in this second round alone.
Moving up a spot on the board is sophomore Sydney Hackett. Hackett shaved a stroke off of her total score, contributing a 1-over 72. Hackett is currently in a logjam among the field in total pars with 26, which ties her for fourth. Hackett finished her second round very strong, putting in two birdies on her final four holes. Currently tied for 15th, Hackett is in a great position going into tomorrow's final round.
Senior Addie Westbrook had a great showing for WKU, scoring an even-par 71 score. Westbrook had the biggest climb on the leaderboard among the Lady Tops as she was 5-over after the first round. Her strong second round, which included three birdies in a row from holes four through six put her right outside of the top-25, tying her for 26th. She will be taking this momentum from a hot second round into the final round where she will look to jump into the top-25.
Rounding things out for WKU is Averi Cline who is currently 84th on the board. Cline had an eight-stroke improvement on her score today, turning in a 5-over 76. Cline put in two birdies during this round and will be continuing her climb up the leaderboard tomorrow.
The Red and White have met par 115 times which is good for third among the field. The Lady Toppers are also second overall par 3s with a 3.12 average.
The Lady Toppers will tee off for the final round tomorrow morning at 8:30 A.M.
