BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will host North Alabama and Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park. The match against the Lions is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. CT and the match against the Panthers is set for a 6:30 p.m. CT start.
The Lady Toppers have won three matches in a row and now sit at 12-7 on the season, with a 9-1 record at home. WKU has won a program-record eight-straight home matches.
Sofia Blanco has led WKU in singles play this season with her 15-1 record, including nine straight wins in matches that have been decided. Rachel Hermanova has won six straight matches that have finished and is 10-7 on the season, and Anna-Marie Kopecka is 10-6 in singles play. Sayda Hernandez won all three singles matches she played last week, as well as both doubles matches, and was named the Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. Samantha Martinez and Mariana Zegada have led WKU in doubles play this spring with their 10-0 record together.
WKU holds a 9-8 advantage in the all-time series against North Alabama, including wins in the last three meetings. The Lady Toppers claimed a 4-0 decision last March in Florence, Alabama, in the most recent meeting. The Lions were 12-6 prior to their match at Lipscomb on Wednesday.
The Lady Toppers won the only match they've played against Kentucky Wesleyan – a 4-3 victory during the 2012 season in Owensboro, Kentucky. The Panthers enter Thursday's match with a 1-10 record.
