About the Lady Toppers
- WKU is 6-9 in league play with wins against Liberty, Sam Houston, UTEP, Louisiana Tech and a sweep against Jacksonville State. The Lady Toppers are tied for fifth place in the CUSA standings with Jacksonville State currently.
- Alexis Mead is the conference's steals leader with 60 on the season. She's third in the league in assists with 121. The junior recently surpassed 900 career points and now has 933 in her three years on The Hill. Mead also has notched 331 career assists, putting her 47 away from breaking into the top 10 all-time at WKU.
- WKU is forcing teams into 19.83 turnovers per game this season, which is the second highest average in CUSA and 30th highest in the nation. On those turnovers, the Lady Toppers are averaging 10.9 steals per game which is the most in the league and 21st in the NCAA.
- The Lady Toppers finished non-conference play with wins against Mercer, Southern Utah, Cornell, Miami (OH), Bucknell, Vermont, Abilene Christian, Nevada and West Virginia State for a 9-6 record.
Series History
- Saturday's game will be just the fourth all-time between WKU and Liberty. The Flames won the first two matchups (2002 and 2004), but WKU won the most recent on Jan. 6, 2024 in Lynchburg.
- The Lady Toppers were led by Alexis Mead with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the 68-66 win in Lynchburg. Acacia Hayes added 19 points and Odeth Betancourt provided a team-leading four steals.
Liberty Notes
- The Flames are currently in third place in the CUSA standings, just one game back from FIU in second.
- Liberty has won nine of their last 11 games and five of their last six coming into Saturday's matchup. Those only two loses during that 11-game stretch are to Middle Tennessee.
- The Flames are led by Bella Smuda who is scoring 14.8 points per game and pulling down a CUSA leading 9.8 rebounds per game. Smuda leads the conference in double-doubles with 15 on the season.
- Emma Hess is averaging 12.9 points per game as the league's top 3-point shooter, shooting 38.9 percent from beyond the arc.
