BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Tennis will return home to face Tennessee State in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park. The first match is set to begin at 1 p.m. CT with the second to follow.
The Lady Toppers are coming off a 4-0 victory at Alabama A&M on Wednesday that ended a stretch of four consecutive road matches. WKU has claimed six straight victories at home, and has a chance to break the program's home winning streak record this weekend. The program record is seven straight home wins.
Sofia Blanco has led the Lady Toppers in singles play this season with her 14-1 record. The junior has won her last eight matches that have finished. Rachel Hermanova, the program's career singles wins leader, has won five straight matches and now sits at 9-7 this year. Samantha Martinez, the program's career doubles wins record holder, leads the team in doubles play with her 12-3 record. She and Mariana Zegada have won their last eight matches. The duo of Anna-Maria Kopecka and Paola Cortez have also produced a strong season with their 9-4 doubles record.
WKU leads the all-time series with Tennessee State 30-1, with wins in the last 25 meetings. The Tigers have a 3-14 record leading into Saturday's doubleheader.
