HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – WKU Women's Tennis swept Alabama A&M 4-0 on Wednesday at the AAMU Tennis Courts.
The Lady Toppers (10-7) claimed the doubles point against the Bulldogs and then earned singles victories from Paola Cortez, Rachel Hermanova, and Sayda Hernandez to pick up the road win.
"Very decisive win on the road," WKU Head Coach Greg Davis said. "I like how our doubles has played the last two matches in a row. We are looking forward to coming back and playing some home matches before our road trip to Florida in mid-April."
WKU won all three doubles matches against Alabama A&M. Paola Cortez and Anna-Marie Kopecka defeated Gabrille Henderson and Ariadna Ondo Cerezo 6-2, Samantha Martinez and Mariana Zegada defeated Alicia Owegi and Ntokozo Zungu 6-3, and Sofia Blanco and Sayda Hernandez defeated Hannah Nagpall and Sofia Sotelo Raya 6-1.
In singles, Cortez defeated Owegi 6-1, 6-1; Hermanova defeated Ondo Cerezo 6-4, 6-1; and Hernandez defeated Henderson 6-2, 6-3.
WKU will return home for its next six matches, starting Saturday with a doubleheader against Tennessee State.
