BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The WKU Softball program is back in Bowling Green to host first-time opponent, Sam Houston, for a three-game series over the weekend. First pitch for the first game is set for Thursday, March 28 at 6 p.m. CT at the WKU Softball Complex.
WKUÂ is tied for third-place in Conference USA standings, posting a 6-3 record. The Tops picked up a win against Morehead State in their Wednesday midweek game last week. Rylan Smith pitched a 4.0 inning shutout, edging with a no-hitter, giving up only one to the Eagles. WKU then went 1-2 in their three-game series at LA Tech, Smith produced a team-high nine strikeouts in Saturday's 6-5 victory.
Sam Houston is holding on to a 12-20 overall record, while posting a 1-8 in Conference USA action. Their lone win this season in the league came from an 8-5 upset over Liberty in Huntsville. The Bearkats have picked up a Power Five win over Syracuse in February. SHSU is currently sixth in CUSA boasting a collective 3.92 ERA from the pitcher's circle, while sitting second with a .969 fielding percentage.
Games will be broadcast on ESPN+ over the weekend. Reily Chestnut will be on the call.
Fans can enter and purchase tickets on the north end of the stadium, down the sidewalk via the Creason lot in between left field and PS3. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $3 for children. Flex season tickets packages are still on sale by going online, calling 1-800-5-BIGRED, or visiting the ticket office in-person inside Diddle Arena, students receive free admission by showing their student ID. Individual tickets for the WKU vs. Kentucky game on April 17th will go on sale to the general public tomorrow. A limited amount of complex seats are still available by calling the ticket office.
Gates will open for fans one hour before the first game.

- As a team, the Hilltoppers are posting a .325 batting average, while scoring 167 runs, and picking up 258 hits. The Hilltopper pitching staff is operating with a 2.78 ERA and earning 158 strikeouts from the circle.
- In the Conference USA Preseason Coaches Poll, the Hilltoppers were predicted to finish second in CUSA, while fifth-year infielders Taylor Sanders and TJ Webster along with right-hander Katie Gardner were named CUSA Preseason All-Conference.
