EATONTON, Ga. – Through two rounds at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, the Lady Tops have improved on their opening round, moving up two spots heading into Sunday. WKU currently sits in second place on the leaderboard, trailing the host, Mercer.
The Lady Tops finished their second round shooting a 5-over 293 as a team.
Addie Westbrook has continued to impress for the red and white. The WKU senior moved up nine spots up the leaderboard, and is currently tied for first overall. Westbrook put in six birdies in the second round on her way to a 4-under 68 score. Westbrook's second round is tied for the lowest round of her career.
Also placing in the top-five for the Lady Tops is Catie Craig who is tied for fifth overall. Craig shot a 3-over 75 in Saturday's round. The Lady Topper junior moved up two spots on the leaderboard after tying for seventh Friday.
The biggest jump for the Lady Tops was Averi Cline. Cline built on her first round and moved up 29 spots after posting a 1-over 73 second round. The Georgia native is looking to keep the momentum going into Sunday's final round as she is tied for 15th overall.
Graduate student Sarah Arnold is still planted in the top-20 for the Lady Tops, tying for 20th. Arnold posted a 5-over 77 second round, including two birdies.
Making her presence felt competing as an individual, Savannah Howell is currently tied for 36th. Howell posted a 8-over 80 second round.
Also making improvements for WKU is Sydney Hackett. Hackett moved up eight spots on the leaderboard after a 6-over 78 second round. The sophomore is currently tied for 54th heading into the final round.
The Lady Tops find themselves in the mix for the lead in a number of major stats. WKU currently leads in the field in total birdies with 27 and are second in both par 4's and 5's.
Head Coach Adam Gary spoke on the Lady Tops' position heading into the final round. "I'm very proud of the way the team battled back today. The wind made the playing conditions tough, but they stayed focused. We moved up the leaderboard to be in the mix tomorrow."
The Lady Tops will continue with round two of the tournament Sunday morning with a 10 A.M shotgun start time.
