BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Track & Field is gearing up for the 2024 Conference USA Indoor Championships. The meet will run Friday and Saturday Feb. 23-24 and will be hosted by new member Liberty.

On the championship weekend, associate head coach Anthony Acklin said "We are excited to see what CUSA Championships have in store for us. We are taking a small group that should do very well in their respected events."
The Hilltoppers are coming off a solid showing at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational. Julian Klenner had a stellar weekend placing 4th in the 400 with a season best mark of 48.65 and finished 7th in the 200 with another season best mark of 21.67.  Brunel Desinor was close behind with a mark of 21.76. They both sit top 10 in the conference in the 200 and 400. Kynzlei Bassett lowered her PR by over a minute in the 5000 to 18:39.40 which puts her third in the conference.
Headed into the indoor championships, WKU has a handful of student-athletes with top-10 marks in the conference in their events. On the track, Demetrius Rolle is seventh in the 60-meter, Julian Klenner is fifth in 400-meter, Brunel Desinor is eighth in the 400-meter, and Kameron Horton is eighth in the 60-meter hurdles.
The Hilltoppers shine particularly bright in the field events. Emilia Lesniak leads CUSA in the high jump, Ajla Basic is fourth in the weight throw, Nick Fornoff is fifth in the high jump, and Grace Turner is 10th in the pole vault.
At the 2023 CUSA Indoor Championships, Demetrius Rolle managed a podium finish claiming third in the 60-meter dash. Grace Turner finished up in fourth in the high jump, good for five points, and the men's 4x400 relay team claimed fourth.
Friday, in the field the women's pole vault will get underway at noon, Basic and Aitana Safont Falomir are set to compete for the Hilltoppers. The field events commence with the men's weight throw slated for 5 p.m. WKU has four competitors in the day's final event. On the track, Rolle and Dreeanna Wade will compete in their respective 60-meter dashes, which are set for 2:35 p.m.
Saturday, Lesniak and the high jumpers will highlight the slate of field events, with the marquee event getting underway at 11 a.m. On the track, both the men's and women's teams will compete in the 4x400 meter relay scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m.
