WKU Baseball and Softball to Host 'Bat Out Breast Cancer' Event on October 17

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The WKU Baseball and Softball programs will host the third annual "Bat Out Breast Cancer" event on Thursday, October 17 at Nick Denes Field from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT. This year's event is sponsored by Graves Gilbert Clinic.

The goal of the event is to bring student-athletes, students, and the southcentral Kentucky community together to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. The event is open to everyone and there is no age requirement to participate. All participants must sign a waiver to bat and helmets will be available. Children are encouraged to bring their own helmets and/or bats.

Participants will pay $5 for five hits or eight attempts to hit a soft toss pitch.

"Proceeds from the 2024 Bat Out Breast Cancer event will go towards innovative solutions to provide the best care and outcomes for our breast cancer patients," said Brandon Falknor, Chief Administrative Officer at Graves Gilbert Clinic. "We are dedicated to supporting those undergoing treatments and enhancing their comfort and quality of life."

Giving options include cash on the day of the event, Venmo app or online at the link below. For those who cannot attend "Bat Out Breast Cancer" on October 17 but would like to support this initiative the online link is now open.

The third base party deck will be open during the event and will have hot dogs and drinks, including alcohol, available for purchase.
