HOW IT HAPPENED
Although a scoreless match, both teams had several dangerous opportunities. WKU got off 10 shots in the match, including four on goal.
On the flip side, goalkeeper Maddie Davis earned the clean sheet with a goal-line save and a save on a penalty kick that was awarded to the Gamecocks in the 59th minute.
NOTABLES
- It is Davis' fourth shutout of the season and the 12th of her career. She currently has the fourth most clean sheets in WKU history and is two away from third place.
- The Hilltoppers outshot the Gamecocks, 10-8, and outshot them in both halves (3-2, first half; 7-6, second half).
- Aspen Seaich and Kayla Meyer each had three shots in the match.
- With the point in league play, WKU's 1-1-3 (6 points) CUSA record is tied for sixth in the conference. Jacksonville State is in eighth place.
QUOTABLE
"We've gotten progressively better every game defensively," said head coach Jason Neidell. "We're more organized than we were in the beginning of the season. Kendall Wade's playing great, Abby Wiedermann's playing great, Maddie Davis is playing great, Brooke, Aspen, everyone we've put back there is playing great. As I always say, defending is a team effort. From the forwards to the midfielders to the backs. I thought we did a sufficient enough job to keep them out of the back of the net today. So, that was good to see."
