BOWLING GREEN, KY. -- WKU Volleyball had three different players finish with double-digit kills on Friday to open their home slate of conference matches against Kennesaw State. Senior outside hitter Kaylee Cox finished with 12 while freshman middle hitter Faith Young and freshman outside hitter Alivia Skidmore finished with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Cox also captured her eighth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs on the night. At the net, sophomore middle hitter Izzy Van De Wiele led the way with six total blocks including one solo block to help the Hilltoppers (10-6 overall, 3-0 CUSA) to eight total team blocks. WKU also posted a .408 hitting clip to KSU's (4-10 overall, 1-2 CUSA) .218.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: 25-18
Young paced the Hilltoppers in set one with six kills on 10 attempts for a staggering .600 [6-0-10] hitting percentage. Both Cox and Skidmore contributed four kills of their own to help WKU to a .486 [18-0-37] team hitting percentage while the Hilltoppers also took advantage of four Owl serving errors.
Set 2: 25-17
Cox led the offensive charge for WKU accounting for four of the 14 kills while hitting .500 [8-0-16] through the two sets. Both Young and Coyle accounted for six kills, recording three a piece. The Hilltoppers came alive at the net, grabbing four total team blocks. Van De Wiele led the way with three, while senior rightside hitter Kenadee Coyle had the lone solo block of the set.
Set 3: 25-17
The WKU offense combined for 13 kills in the third set while also adding four team blocks to their total. Cox led with three kills in the third set while Van De Wiele and Coyle both picked up two more blocks each.
