ABOUT THE TOPS
- WKU is in eighth place in the Conference USA standings with eight points. For the Hilltoppers to make the CUSA tournament (top six teams make the field), WKU must win against Sam Houston and Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State must lose or tie. Jacksonville State takes on FIU on Thursday night while Kennesaw State faces Liberty on Friday.
- Kayla Meyer leads WKU in goals scored on the season with five. The senior had two against Union and netted a goal each against Evansville and Arkansas State.
- Olivia Cooke, Rebecca Roth, Abby Wiedermann and Lily Rummo have each scored two goals this season. Seven total Hilltoppers have scored goals this season.
- Georgia Liapis leads the team in assists with two on the year. Seven total WKU players have notched assists.
- Maddie Davis has been stellar in goal for the Hilltoppers during CUSA play. The redshirt junior has posted five clean sheets in league play and has a CUSA leading 0.625 goals against average during conference play. Davis has been award CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season (Sept. 24 and Oct. 28).
- The Hilltoppers returned 17 players from the 2023 season and welcomed two transfers and seven freshmen. Among the returners are 2023 starting goalkeeper Maddie Davis, second-leading scorer Kayla Meyer and defensive starters Aspen Seaich, Kendall Wade and Lily Rummo.
SERIES INFORMATION
- Friday's match will be just the second all-time between WKU and Sam Houston.
- The Hilltoppers won the first meeting in Huntsville last season, 1-0. Kayla Meyer scored the game-winning goal in that match on assists from Rebecca Roth and Anna Isger.
SCOUTING THE BEARKATS
- Sam Houston is tied for fourth place in the CUSA standings with Middle Tennessee with 12 points and have not clinched a spot in the CUSA tournament.
- Landri Townsend is Sam Houston's leading goal scorer with six on the season. Eleven total Bearkats have scored this season.
- Cassia Souza is the Bearkats' starting goalkeeper. She has a 1.31 goals against average on the season.
