ABOUT THE LADY TOPPERS
- The Lady Toppers have competed in two events so far this fall. The full team participated in the APSU Fall Tournament Sept. 13-15 and picked up victories in 23 of 35 matches played. Seniors Rachel Hermanova and Sofia Blanco recently played in the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals on Oct. 11-12 and claimed a pair of doubles victories.
- WKU Women's Tennis is in its winningest three-year stretch in program history with 47 wins during that period.
- The Lady Toppers are coming off of a 14-11 season in 2024, which tied for the fourth-most wins in a single season in program history.
- WKU returns four of its eight players from the 2024-25 season in Blanco, Sunskrithi Damera, Hermanova and Mariana Zegada. WKU brought in four newcomers during the offseason – Stephen F. Austin transfer Carolina Chiatti, Nevada transfer Mia Miranda, Marshall transfer Emily Schut and Valparaiso transfer Elizabeth Sobieski.
- Hermanova ranks first in program history in career singles wins with 49, while Blanco ranks third with 40 wins. Blanco is also second in program history in career doubles wins with 38, while Zegada ranks fifth with 32.
QUOTABLE
- "What we need to improve upon right now is our point play, being a little more patient. I think our fitness needs to be better. That was something that caught up with us, I thought, toward the end of last year, last season. Conditioning-wise, it's going to be very important. Our doubles, I'm still looking for one more good doubles team, so I think this weekend's going to help me clarify that." – WKU Women's Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis, on what the team needs to do to improve this weekend and before the spring season.
