BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Cross Country is set to compete in the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, Sept. 30.
The meet will take place at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. The course has hosted numerous NCAA Regionals and the 2012, 2015, and 2017 NCAA Championships.
On the Live in Lou Classic head coach Ron Becht said, "It's the biggest meet of the year for us in terms of quality. Training has been going really well, we've just got to translate that into performance."
The men's squad will open the meet with an 8K beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET, followed by the women's 5K at 12:45 p.m. ET.
Last time out, WKU hosted the WKU Invitational. For the second time this season, freshmen led the way for the red and white.Â
Jared Sandfoss led the men's squad, placing eighth and finishing in 26:05. In the women's race, Kinley Kunkel led the way for the Hilltoppers finishing in 24:10, good enough for seventh place.
Following the Live in Lou Classic, the Hilltoppers will head to the Hoosier State for the Angel Mounds Invitational on Oct. 13. The meet will be hosted by the University of Evansville and held at the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course.

- Austin Peay, Evansville, Transylvania, and Trevecca are among the competitors the Hilltoppers will be facing Saturday
- Four Hilltoppers will be running in their hometown on Saturday. Wade Balcom attended Louisville Eastern HS, Mary Dye attended duPont Manual HS, Emma Endress attended Butler Traditional HS,, and Madeline Powell attended Assumption HS.
- WKU will host this season's CUSA Championships at Hobson Grove Park on Saturday, Oct. 28.
