BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After a thrilling 13-inning win for WKU in Richmond for the Hilltoppers' first midweek of the season, the Tops are set to host their first and only non-conference series with Miami of Ohio on Saturday and Sunday, with a Monday midweek match with Indiana on the schedule. The Tops will play a doubleheader to kick off the series with the Redhawks and a Sunday noon first pitch, while WKU will be under the lights with the Hoosiers at the WKU Softball Complex.
Meeting six times in program history, the Hilltoppers and Redhawks are tied in the all-times series, with the last match up in 2017 going to Miami of Ohio in Bowling Green. With the Big Ten's Indiana Hoosiers, the two teams haven't met in over 15 years. The last meeting in 2006, resulted in a 4-3 win for the Red and White.
Last weekend on The Hill, WKU went 4-0 in front of their home crowd that included shutouts over Evansville and Akron. From offense, junior Jessica Bush knocked in her first career home run and the only one of the Hilltopper Spring Fling. From the circle, freshman Maddy Wood picked up her first career win with a six inning shutout, only giving up two hits and posting a 2.87 ERA.
Due to limited broadcasting equipment with the Lady Toppers' semi-final tournament game in Frisco, there will be no stream available for Saturday's contests against the Redhawks.
Sunday's match up will be on the secondary stream, Behind the Mic, on Hilltopper Sports Properties Facebook page with Voice of the Lady Toppers, Brad Klein, broadcasting. Monday's nightcap against Indiana will be streamed from the primary HSSN Facebook Live as Hilltopper letterwinner and HAF Executive Director Kat (Downing) Smith will be on the call.
Due to the construction for the new WKU Soccer/Softball Complex, the south entrance via Creason Street is closed. Fans can enter and purchase tickets on the north end, down the sidewalk via the Creason lot in between left field and PS3. Concessions and restrooms will be open, but space is constrained due to construction fencing.
