About the Lady Toppers
- The Lady Toppers are off to a 8-6 start to the season with wins against Mercer, Southern Utah, Cornell, Miami (OH), Bucknell, Vermont, Abilene Christian and Nevada.
- Acacia Hayes is WKU's and CUSA's leading scorer through 14 games, putting up 17.1 points per game. Hayes was honored as CUSA Player of the Week this week after averaging 20.7 points per game in three contests last week. Hayes leads the conference in six different statistical categories (field goal attempts, total field goals, free throw attempts, total free throws made, points, points per game). Her 240 total points on the season are the 25th most nationally and her 63 made free throws are 11th in the country.
- Destiny Salary made her Lady Topper debut against Abilene Christian, making an immediate impact with a career high 20 points. Through three games, she is averaging 14.0 points per game. Alexis Mead is also averaging double figures, scoring 10.8 points per game. Karris Allen is the team's leading rebounder, pulling down 5.2 boards per game.
- WKU is forcing teams into 19.50 turnovers per game this season, which is the second highest average in CUSA and 60th highest in the nation. On those turnovers, the Lady Toppers are averaging 10.7 steals per game which is second in the league and 41st in the NCAA.
- There are five Lady Toppers with at least 15 steals on the season. Mead leads the team with 25 on the season. Hayes and Josie Gilvin have 24 each, Teresa Faustino has 22 and Karris Allen has 21.
- WKU was picked to finish tied for second place in the Conference USA preseason coaches poll released earlier in October. The Lady Toppers are coming off a second place CUSA finish in 2022-23, a championship game appearance in the CUSA tournament and a WNIT berth.
- Hayes and Mead were named to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team in October.
About the Yellow Jackets
- West Virginia State is coming off one of its best seasons in program history that featured 22 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament.
- Shelby Harmeyer is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.4 points per game.
- Jordan Anysa leads the squad on the boards, pulling down 6.2 rebounds per game.
