BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Softball will conclude its five-game homestand with its toughest battle yet as No. 5 Alabama visits The Hill for the first time ever. First pitch is slated for 5:02 p.m. CT with gates to the WKU Softball Complex scheduled to open at 3:30 p.m. All the action will be on ESPN+ with Will Haskett and Brett Kramer on the call remotely.
While Wednesday's 5 p.m. CT contest is sold out in the stadium; fans can still purchase a ticket at the parking structure to view from the open-air building in left field. Tickets are no longer available online and are only available at the gate on game day.
Gates to the stadium will open at 3:30 p.m. CT for fans with previously purchased tickets. There will not be reserved seating. Parking will be available in the Creason Lot beyond the field's outfield fence. Spectator parking will not be available in Parking Structure 3, just the surrounding lot.
WKU enters its third midweek game of the season with a 30-9 record while No. 5 Alabama sits at 39-8. The Crimson Tide has picked up wins over Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, UAB and Southern Miss for a 6-0 record against Conference USA squads this season. Most recently, Alabama fell 2-1 in a SEC series at Texas A&M – a squad the Hilltoppers took a 2-0 loss to on Opening Weekend.
Alabama leads the all-time series, 6-0, with the most recent meeting coming back in 2013, prior to Amy Tudor's return to the program as the head coach. Wednesday's contest will mark the first-ever meeting in Bowling Green.
The 2022 campaign is also the first time the Hilltopper program has ever hosted two SEC teams in the same season as No. 10 Arkansas visited The Hill back on March 21.
The move of the stream to ESPN+ marks the second time in the last two seasons the Hilltoppers have had a home game picked up by an outside entity as the 2021 Conference USA Championship aired live on CBS Sports Network. The game will be produced by ESPN.
