AUBURN, Ala. – WKU Track & Field traveled with a small squad over spring break and opened the outdoor season with six top-10 finishes at Auburn's Tiger Track Classic.
On the men's side Zackery Martinez finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles. He logged a 55.78 in his first time on the outdoor track with the Hilltoppers.
On the women's side Ajla Basic and Aitana Safont Falomir stuck out in the throws with fourth and fifth-place finishes in hammer throw, respectively. Basic threw 55.81 meters and Falomir threw 55.36 meters, both in their first collegiate outdoor meets. In that same event, Rachel Flinchum logged a personal best of 41.50 meters.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, freshman Rachel Payne finished seventh with a time of 1:06.56 while Audrey Griffin placed ninth, clocking 1:11.51.
Freshman Abigail Green made her field debut in javelin with a throw of 35.65 meters.
WKU is slated to continue the outdoor season and compete in the Ole Miss Classic on Friday and Saturday ahead of hosting the annual Hilltopper Relays on April 1-2.
