BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Softball will be home again to host the Hilltopper Spring Fling this weekend. The Hilltoppers will be playing Ohio, Dayton and Illinois State. Each team will face one another in pool play before being seeded into a bracket for their last two games where each team will play a total of five games.
The Hilltopper Spring Fling consists of three teams that WKU has matched up against before. This will mark the fifth time WKU has played Ohio, the Hilltoppers last played the Bobcats two seasons ago and lead the all-time series 4-0. WKU will play Dayton for the sixth time, the last meeting in 2018 and the Hilltoppers lead the series 5-0. This will be the 12th time WKU has faced Illinois State with WKU currently on a three-game win streak but the Redbirds lead the series, 6-5.
Last weekend, WKU kicked off the 2022 home campaign by hosting the Hilltopper Classic. The Hilltoppers went a perfect 5-0 on the weekend improving their overall record to 8-1. In multiple run-rule wins, the Tops added four home runs and closed out the tournament with a come from behind victory over SEMO in which the Tops plated five runs in the sixth to beat SEMO and win the Hilltopper Classic championship.
In her first time playing on The Hill, Bailey Curry tallied nine hits, racking up 12 RBI, three runs, and three walks in 15 plate appearances. The weekend performance from Curry didn't go unnoticed as she earned Conference USA Player of the Week and her showing was a Louisville Slugger/ Wilson DI NFCA Top Performance for the weekend.

TOP STORYLINES
- WKU Softball has played Illinois State 11 times in program history, with every game being played at home in Bowling Green.
- This will be the sixth time that the Tops will face Dayton, with WKU leading the all-time record of 5-0. The last time WKU played Dayton was 2016 with WKU winning 1-0.
- This weekend marks the fifth time that WKU has played Ohio. WKU leads the all-time series 4-0.
- Hilltopper fans will be able to watch all 20 remaining home games this season for free on Facebook Live. New this year, Hilltopper Sports Properties (HSP) has added the ability for a secondary stream called "Behind The Mic", allowing for simultaneous softball games to be streamed. - WKU now has two regulation walk-off wins on the season as Taylor Sanders' RBI single gave the Tops the 4-3 win over SEMO on day two of the Hilltopper Classic. Jordan Ridge connected for the first Hilltopper walk-off home run since 2016 in WKU's first win over Texas A&M - Corpus Christi.
- WKU Softball won three-consecutive run-rule victories with Friday's wins for the first time since 2020 and just the fourth time in program history. In both 2013 and 2000, WKU strung together four-straight run-rule wins, marking the longest streak of such in program history.
- Head Coach Amy Tudor is 7-2 in home openers since taking over the helm in 2013. Coach Tudor enters her 18th season as a head coach – ninth on The Hill – and owns a 459-365-2 career coaching record.
- In the Conference USA Preseason Coaches Poll, the Hilltoppers were predicted to finish third in C-USA, while Maddie Bowlds, Taylor Davis and Shelby Nunn were named to the Preseason All-Conference team.
- Shelby Nunn was named WKU's second-ever Preseason Pitcher of the Year, which is the first in the Conference USA era. Adrienne Lathrop was the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year ahead of the 2008 campaign.
