BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Track & Field hopes to use its momentum from its last regular season indoor meet as it heads into the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at the Birmingham Crossplex.

The Hilltoppers are coming off the Samford Bulldog Invite where the team had eight top-five finishes, two event titles and numerous PRs across the board. A select group of distance runners competed at the Music City Challenge on the same day and saw major PRs as well as at the highly competitive event.
Headed into the indoor championships, WKU has a handful of student-athletes with top-10 marks in the conference in their events. On the track, Demetrius Rolle is sixth in the 60-meter, Dedrick Troxell is sixth in the mile, Savannah Heckman is first in the 5k, fifth in the mile and sixth in the 3k, while Clint Sherman, Will Perrone and Miles Huff are third, fourth and fifth in the men's 5k.
Katie Isenbarger has the top mark in high jump while Kaison Barton is fourth in shot put and Brett Brannon is fifth in weight throw.
At the 2021 indoor championships, Grace Turner made her way to the podium in high jump while the men's Distance Medley Relay placed third with a top-five program time.
Starting off the weekend for the Hilltoppers will be Samyzia Sears, Audrey Griffin and Rachel Payne, all competing in the pentathlon starting at 9:15 a.m. CT on Saturday morning. Field events will start at 1 p.m. with men's pole vault while action on the track begins at 3 p.m. with the mile trial. The day will end with the women's and men's distance medley relays at 7:20 and 7:40, respectively.
Saturday will start for WKU with the men's shot put, men's triple jump and women's high jump at 10 a.m. CT. Running events will start with the mile finals at noon followed by finals for the 60-meter hurdles, 400, 60, 800 and 200. The day ends with the 3k and 4x400-meter relays.
