SAVANNAH, Ga. – Two Lady Toppers of WKU Women's Golf notched top-10 finishes at The Southern on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Sarah Arnold held her spot in the top five while fifth-year senior Kenlie Barrett tied for ninth.
"It's not exactly the result we were hoping for, but we still beat teams this week who were ranked above us to start the event," said head coach Adam Gary. "That's something for us to be proud of. Sarah and Kenlie put together a really solid tournament and I'm hoping the whole team can carry that momentum into our home tournament starting Monday."
On the final day, freshman Averi Cline led the way for the Lady Toppers with a 3-over 75 at the par-72, 6,036-yard Savannah Golf Club. The round pushed her up the leaderboard five spots to finish t-17th.
Arnold pulled off a fifth-place finish and a Conference USA Golfer of the Week award on Wednesday. Both her and Barrett carded final-round, 4-over 76's.
The final score for the Lady Tops belonged to freshman Sydney Hackett. She finished in the top 20 after shooting an 8-over 80. Junior Rachel Rich turned in a 10-over 82.
Junior Addie Westbrook and sophomore Catie Craig played as individuals at The Southern and tied for 23rd and 44th respectively.
WKU is at home to wrap up the fall season as it co-hosts the Olde Stone Intercollegiate with Louisville starting on Monday. Fans are encouraged to come out to The Club at Olde Stone to spectate the rounds on Monday and Tuesday.
