GREENVILLE, S.C. – Three WKU women's golfers ended the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational inside the top 25 on the leaderboard. As a team, WKU is in eighth following the first 18 holes of the tournament. The squad is just three shots off the top three after shooting 1-over 298.
Senior Kenlie Barrett and freshman Catie Craig each carded a 1-over 73 in the opening round at the par-72, 6,234-yard Furman University Golf Course. Craig ended her round with seven pars and a birdie in her final eight holes. The pair is tied for 11th, just three strokes back from the top three.
South Carolina native Rachel Rich turned in a 3-over 75 on the first day of action. The sophomore is tied for 25th after logging 13 pars over the course of the round.
The Lady Toppers' final score of the day was a 5-over 77 as both fifth-year senior Olivia Reed and junior Sarah Arnold shot that number. The duo is tied for 38th through the first round of competition.
Competing as an individual, freshman Faith Martin shot 8-over 80 on the day and is tied for 63rd.
WKU will tee off for the second round beginning at 8:45 a.m. CT on Saturday morning.
