CHOUDRANT, La. – WKU Men's Golf freshman Riley Grindstaff notched the team's lowest score of the day for the second consecutive round at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
The Franklin, Tenn., native shot his first below-par round as a Hilltopper at the par-2, 7,105-yard Squire Creek Country Club on Monday morning. Grindstaff carded a 1-under 71 with four birdies throughout the day to move up to t-18th on the leaderboard. He is just two shots back from the top 10.
Fifth year Jack Poole shot 4-over 75 to count as the second score for the Hilltoppers. He eagled the last hole of his front nine and birdied the final hole of his back nine.
Freshman Elliott Pope improved his first-round score by three strokes and shot 4-over 76 in Monday's second round.
WKU counted a 5-over 77 as its final score as junior Luke Fuller and freshman Stephen Warren both turned in that number. Warren is tied for 68th while Fuller is tied for 76th.
As a team, the Hilltoppers shot 11-over 299 on Monday to total 19-over 595 through 36 holes. They are sitting in 17th with 18 holes left to play in the tournament.
WKU is slated to tee off on Tuesday morning to finish out the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate.
