- The Lady Toppers got off to a 1-0-0 start on Thursday night with a 2-0 win against Austin Peay to open the season. Katie Erwin scored the go-ahead goal in the 51st minute and then Erwin found Annah Hopkins four minutes later for the second goal of the night.
- WKU outshot Austin Peay 23-2 in the match, including a 9-0 shots on goal differential.
- With the win, WKU improved to 14-7 in season openers all-time and 17-3-1 in home openers. The Lady Toppers also extended a home winning streak to seven matches that stretches back to the 2019 season.
- Through three total matches, including two exhibitions, WKU hasn't allowed a goal and has given up only eight total shots. The Lady Toppers notched 1-0 wins against UT Martin and Bellarmine in the preseason.

- WKU and Union University have not met previous to Saturday's match.
Union Notes
- Union is a NCAA Division II program and Saturday's contest will count as an exhibition for the Lady Bulldogs.
- The Lady Bulldogs have not played a match in 2021 and officially start their season on Sept. 4.
