BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Men's Golf is headed to Texarkana, Ark., for the Conference USA Men's Golf Championships beginning on Monday. The 54-hole stroke play event is competed over three days while the top four teams go on to match play on Thursday to decide the conference champion.
The last time WKU competed for the C-USA Championships, the squad missed out on match play by a mere two strokes, after shooting the program's lowest team conference tournament score since 2008. Billy Tom Sargent and Stuart Easton went on to compete as individuals in the NCAA Regionals.
WKU will travel with six individuals. Five golfers can play each round, and in the C-USA Men's Golf Championships, teams can substitute an individual between rounds. One of the golfers traveling is graduate senior Christian Tooley. He holds the team's top stroke average and most recently had WKU's top finish at the Mountaineer Invitational.
Tooley's fellow co-captains of Caleb O'Toole and Tom Bevington will also be making the trip to Arkansas. Bevington is the only golfer on the entire WKU lineup that has competed in a conference championship for WKU.
Joining the trip is senior Jack Poole, freshman Connery Meyer and sophomore Luke Fuller. Between the trio, there are 15 starts and three top-25 finishes.
WKU will start the day on Monday morning and play one round a day until Wednesday. Live scoring for the event can be found here.
