BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball begins a five-game homestand against Alabama A&M at 4 p.m. CT Wednesday at E.A. Diddle Arena. The game will air on ESPN+.
Â
WKU has lost three in a row away from home to Power Five Minnesota and South Carolina, and No. 11/16 Memphis. The Tops' five-game homestand is their longest since playing seven in a row at home in the 2014-15 season.
Â
Alabama A&M fell 86-41 at UAB on Sunday. WKU is 3-0 all-time against the Bulldogs, with all three prior meetings played in Bowling Green. Hilltopper head coach Rick Stansbury is 4-0 all-time vs. Alabama A&M.
TOP STORYLINES
• After Friday's loss at Memphis, WKU was one of just six teams in the nation to have already played a top-25 team, as well as two additional Power Five opponents, in the first two weeks of the season.
Â
• As of Sunday, WKU ranks fourth in the country in steals per game (13.2) and 11th in turnovers forced per game (21.3). Sophomore guard Dayvion McKnight ranks second in the country in steals per game (3.8), while fifth-year senior guard Josh Anderson is eighth (3.3).
Â
• WKU recorded 19 steals Friday at Memphis, its most in a game since grabbing 19 against Lamar on Dec. 27, 1997. The Hilltoppers have 36 total steals in the last two games.
Â
• Graduate senior guard Camron Justice was granted an additional season of eligibility on Nov. 10. Justice last played for WKU in 2019-20 and had been working as a graduate assistant for WKU in basketball academics since summer 2021. He also got married on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Â
• Dayvion McKnight is currently averaging 18.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.8 steals. No player in the country since at least 1992 has ever finished a season with those averages. No Hilltopper has led the program in all of those four categories since at least 1959, as far back as statistics can confirm.
Â
• WKU junior center Jamarion Sharp is the tallest player in college basketball at 7 feet, 5 inches. He's also the tallest player in the history of the Hilltopper program.
