BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Women's Golf hung in with the best of them on Monday amidst cold, strong winds at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate. Following the first round, the Lady Toppers were tied for eighth as a team and senior Kenlie Barrett led the bunch at t-3rd. The field was unable to complete the second round due to darkness and will finish the second round at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday morning.
Barrett completed an incredible comeback over the first round. The Woodlands, Texas, native started her round with a triple bogey, but bounced back to notch five birdies over the course of the day to finish at 1-under 71. She was tied for third following the opening round at The Club at Olde Stone (par-72, 6,212-yards).
Freshman Catie Craig carded a 3-over 75 in the first round of the Intercollegiate. She closed out her round with eight pars and two birdies to lower her score. She was sitting t-17th, outside the top 10 by two shots.
Sophomore Rachel Rich added an 8-over 80 while WKU's final score was a 9-over 81 from both fifth-year senior Olivia Reed and junior Sarah Arnold.
As individuals, sophomore Addie Westbrook posted a 10-over 82 and freshman Faith Martin shot 14-over 86.
WKU was tied for eighth as a team following the first round and has begun to move up the leaderboard in a partial, unofficial second round.
The shotgun start on Tuesday is moved up to 8 a.m. CT to accommodate finishing the second round and playing the entire final round.
