TOP STORYLINES
- WKU Volleyball will be back in action 78 days after its season-opening non-conference win against UAB. The Hilltoppers swept the Blazers in a countable, non-conference match.
- The Hilltoppers are 2-1 all-time against Mercer with the most recent meeting being a 3-0 sweep in favor of WKU that took place on September 17, 2005.
- WKU is 1-4 all-time against Bellarmine with the most-recent outing resulting in a 2-1 Hilltopper victory on October 10, 1987.
- Travis Hudson has coached WKU Volleyball in all three matches against Mercer but has never faced Bellarmine.
- In Conference USA's first season utilizing divisions, WKU has been predicted to win the East Division by the league's coaches. WKU's counterpart from the West was Rice – a program that the Hilltoppers have no shortage of high-level battles against.
- Junior Lauren Matthews was selected as the Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year and was joined on the Preseason All-Conference Team by Paige Briggs and Nadia Dieudonne. All three won superlative awards last season and would go on to earn AVCA All-Region accolades.
- WKU Volleyball ranked 25th in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll released on January 5, 2021. The Tops were ranked 22nd in the 2019 final poll but did not play enough matches in fall 2020 to qualify for those polls. Fellow C-USA member, Rice, is receiving votes and sit at 33rd. The next poll will be released on January 26.
