HUNTINGTON, W.VA. — WKU Hilltopper Basketball will face the same rival twice this week with two games against Marshall in four days. First, WKU travels to Marshall at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday in Huntington, W.Va. The game will stream exclusively on Facebook and be produced by Stadium.

The Hilltoppers have won three straight and 5 of 6, most recently defeating Charlotte 80-63 at home Saturday.
Â
Marshall snapped a two-game slide by beating Old Dominion 68-67 on Saturday. WKU is 16-12 all-time against the Herd, winning the last meeting a year ago. Head coach Rick Stansbury is 3-4 in his career against Marshall.

• This will be the first time WKU has faced the same opponent in back-to-back regular-season games since VCU in 2011-12. It's the first time the Tops have played a league foe consecutively in regular-season games since doing so with Middle Tennessee in 1970-71.

• In the last four games, junior guard Taveion Hollingsworth is averaging 22.5 points per game while shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 90.6 (29 of 32) percent from the free-throw line. He's made 38 of 41 free throws overall in league play and was named C-USA Co-Player of the Week on Monday.

• Over the last five games, the Hilltoppers are allowing just 63.6 points per contest.

• Since the season-ending injury to Charles Bassey, redshirt junior forward Carson Williams is averaging 15.9 points and 8.3 rebounds over the last eight outings. He's shooting 59.7 percent from the field overall.

• Junior guard Josh Anderson has entered the starting lineup with Bassey out. After reaching double figures in two of the first nine games of the year, Anderson has scored at least 10 points in nine of the last 10.

• As of Monday, WKU ranked 31st in the country in field-goal percentage (47.1), sixth in free-throw percentage (78.4), ninth in fouls per game (13.9) and 54th in scoring offense (77.2 ppg).

• WKU has made 68 more free throws (309) than its opponents have even attempted (241) through 18 games.

LAST GAME AGAINST MARSHALL: JANUARY 21, 2019

WKU scored 14 unanswered points late in the second half to surge past Marshall, soaring to a 68-59 victory in front of 6,368 fans at E.A. Diddle Arena.

After Marshall pulled in front 53-46 with a 7-0 run, WKU rattled off 14 straight points to go up 60-53 with 1:37 left.

Josh Anderson had eight points during that stretch, including a steal and fast-break dunk that put the Hilltoppers in front for good at 54-53. Anderson finished with a career-high 25 points and five steals – 18 of those points after halftime. He made 10 of 16 shots from the field.

Charles Bassey scored 17 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.
