BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — WKU Baseball head coach John Pawlowski has announced that the Hilltoppers will hold open tryouts on Monday, Sept. 16 at Nick Denes Field beginning at 3 p.m. CT. In order to try out for the team, individuals must be a full-time WKU student and attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. in the Paul C. Orberson Baseball Clubhouse (located in the building directly behind the third base dugout at The Nick).
At the mandatory meeting, interested students will put their information on a sign-up sheet and receive necessary forms to be completed and returned by Tuesday, Sept. 10. If you do not attend the meeting and do not complete and return the forms by the required date, we will not be able to allow you to participate in the tryouts.
During the tryout, position players will run a timed 60-yard dash, be graded on catch-and-throw ability from their primary positions and take batting practice on the field. Pitchers, meanwhile, will throw a 20-to-30-pitch bullpen session with a radar gun and possibly pitch to live hitters.
